The two have not said which apps will be added, but Huawei cloud BU Zheng Yelai described it as “an open and win-win ecosystem”. Currently, Huawei gives users access to Windows Server and Microsoft RDS for SQL Server. In addition to apps, they’ll be cooperating to provide optimal experiences, trusted hosting, and digital transformation. “The fourth industrial revolution, driven by technology innovation, is creating opportunities for customers to achieve more across nearly every industry,” said Microsoft China CEO Alain Crozier. “As a global leader in enterprise IT, Huawei is a strategic partner for Microsoft in the mission to empower organizations as they transform. Our increased collaboration will drive innovation as we build a seamless platform to benefit customers through industry-leading technology.”
Consistent Cloud Growth
The partnership follows a period of huge growth for Microsoft in the cloud market. Its recent 10K filing reveals a 13% rise in server products and tools revenue. Commerical cloud revenue, meanwhile, rose from $9.5 billion to $14.9. This MoU will likely continue that growth, and will also give Huawei a foothold outside of China. The networking giant recently announced plans to grow its cloud footprint abroad, which will be important long-term. “Together,” said Crozier, “we are confident that we will lead, and win, in the era of digital transformation by focusing on what our customers need.”
