Ironically, Microsoft is slowly creeping out of nearly two years of failing to meet the demand for the Xbox Series X. Just as the console becomes more readily available, there is now an Xbox Wireless Controller shortage. However, this supply issue seems to be restricted to Europe and the UK. It is not just retail partners who are running out, the Microsoft Store is also out of stock. As you might expect, third-party retailers with stock are seizing the opportunity and cranking prices up on their controller inventories. It is worth noting in Europe and the UK, the Xbox Design Lab is still taking orders. This is the section of the Microsoft Store that allows users to design and customize their own Xbox Wireless Controller. However, a gamepad from the Design Lab costs much more than a standard controller and takes up to 28 days to ship.

Official Confirmation

Speaking to VGC, Microsoft confirmed the controller shortage, saying there was a problem restocking its units: “We know it may be hard finding Xbox Wireless Controllers right now due to supply disruptions. We’re working as fast as possible with our manufacturing and retail partners to improve this. Please check with your local retailer for availability.” Let us know if you are in the UK or Europe and have been struggling to buy an Xbox Wireless Controller. Tip of the day: Did you know that your data and privacy might be at risk if you run Windows without encryption? A bootable USB with a live-linux distribution is often just enough to gain access to all of your files. If you want to change that, check out our detailed BitLocker guide where we show you how to turn on encryption for your system disk or any other drive you might be using in your computer.
