Yes, another attempt for Microsoft to crack non-enterprise customers seems to be falling by the wayside. Business Insider now reports that the company is dismissing around 200 employees that comprise the Modern Life Experiences. The company is giving the option for those employees to either take severance pay or to find another position within Microsoft. It is worth noting that Microsoft has yet to official confirm this report or that it is cancelling the Modern Life Experiences team. However, in a LinkedIn post this week, a Microsoft designer did say there was “hard news” coming for the team.
Poor Track Record
Microsoft’s consumer efforts have been extremely hit and miss over the years. Of course, Windows for home PCs is the main consumer product and has been successful. Although, forays into hardware have almost always ended in failure, from Lumia smartphones to the modern Surface Go folding phone, from the MP3 player Zune and the failure of Cortana. Of course, some Surface products have been successful, while Xbox continues to be the bright spot of Microsoft’s pure consumer output. Even so, it seems the company’s efforts to drive more interest with consumers has not worked. Tip of the day: If you need to Create, Delete or Resize Partitions, Windows has everything you thanks to the built-in Disk Management-tool.
