Users of the app can now select whether they want to open new screen captures in a separate window or in the same window. It’s not a major overhaul of how the app works, but it is an important feature. Users now have more choice over how they use the app and perform its function. Elsewhere, Microsoft has made the usual unnamed performance improvements and squashed some bugs. Snip and Sketch version 10.1907.2395.0 is currently available exclusively to Windows Insiders on the Fast Ring. Testing of individual app updates is typically quick, so we guess end users on Windows 10 will receive this new feature in the coming weeks.
Changelog
Multiple windows — With this update the Multiple windows option, which allows you to choose whether to open new captures in separate windows or always in the same window, is available. Bug fixes and performance improvements.
If you are an Insider and want to update Snip and Sketch, you can do so via the Microsoft Store here. If you’re unfamiliar with Snip and Sketch, it was once known as Screen Sketch. Microsoft rebranded the app last year with the release of Windows 10 April 2018 Update (version 1803). It is worth noting Screen Sketch itself was a replacement for the older Snipping Tool and was included in the Windows Ink suite. Snip & Search provides more power and functionality than its predecessors, including a keyboard shortcut (Win+Shift+S) for easy access. Additional features include creating screenshots in random shapes and an in-built image editor.
